End stray animal suffering

Our Mission

The main purpose of Mylos Rescue is to search, find and rescue stray, injured dogs and unwanted abandoned dogs by owners; to establish and facilitate the comfort of stray animals by maintaining an animal shelter which promotes health, care , safety and also help them with a decent send off. Our mission is mainly focussed on creating a stray animal free society where all the dogs are given a loving home at Mylos until they find a home of their own. We work towards this by conducting vaccination, sterlization and adoption drives at regular intervals to ensure we acheive the desired goal.

Save every dog at risk

Our Vision

To save the lives of at-risk animals by collaborating , communicating, and educating about the importance of animal safety and welfare.

Our Founder

Lakshmi swaminathan

Just like any other normal person, there were instances in her life which she admired small puppies. After coming from a small town like Madurai where the stray population was very less, she found Bangalore with a lot of stray dogs. The small practice of feeding dogs attracted a lot of puppies near by and she also found that many of them dont survive if they are not treated on time for various diseases.

It was awful to see them going through this and she wanted to do something about it.

She realised what the problem was and the solution to the tragedy of overpopulation of dogs was only by nuetering, spaying and treating them on time.

As the word spread that she is taking care of stray dogs in the locality, the house became swamped with dogs brought in by people who hoped she would take care. In the span of 10 years, she was taking care of lost, sick, terminally ill and homeless dogs.

She has brought about changes to improve the lives of all animals, and the people who care about them. She also earnestly tries to teach children and the community to be gaurdians for dogs and to respect animals.

Where all started

Our History

History

2008 - 2014

Operating As a Rescuer

I started with feeding milk and bread to 5 pups who were left by their mother on the roads. That started my interest in treating them , vaccinating them against diseases which are a threat to their lives. These 6 years were the testing times where it was majorly puppies who were rescued and treated. Almost 300 puppies were rescued, cured and given a life by giving them for adoption.

2014 - 2019

Providing Solution to Over Population

These 5 years were focussed only on spaying and nuetering the dogs in and around the locality. People had recognized our team as rescuing dogs from danger, injury old age, abandoned and cannot fend for themselves. We also can proudly say that we could bring down the littering of female dogs on a large scale atleast in few areas around our vicinity.

2019 - 2020

Helping Dogs which need Rescue

Our rescue operations extended all over Bangalore and we rescued more than 50  dogs and we had started feeding more than 100 dogs per day. Covid – 19 had given us more opportunity through other feeding initiatives which are explained in other sections of the website to feed more than 400 dogs in a day. We were acknowledged by BBMP as a stray animal feeder during the Covid times.

Future

2021 to 2023

Shelter For existing Dogs

The space we have is not enough for any further rescues. We have the plan of opening a shelter by June 2021 for all the current rescued dogs with all the facilities which any shelter would ask for.

2023 to 2025

Spaying Neutering Adoption Drives

Spaying, neutering and adoption drives will be our focus as we will be committted to reducing the stray animal population in these two years. We will also be more involved in expanding our shelter for other animals like cats and birds.

2025 to 2040

Making A better future for all dogs

As we move into the future of finding solutions for homeless pets, our shelter will be focussed on needing community support more than ever.  The financial challenges for us will continue over the ensuing years and we will still be moving towards the step of having every animal which needs help attended right through the future.
